‘Making Waves’ at Durlston Country Park

‘Making Waves’ at Durlston Country Park

Durlston Country Park’s Fine Foundation Gallery presents an exhibition from  four artists who have  explored sound, water, air, heat and brain waves through 2D and 3D works. ‘Making Waves’ features work from Pat Marvell, Jo Pethybridge, Margaret Thompson and Diana Stoker exploring the concept in their own unique styles. The exhibition will be open daily until Thursday 24th July, 10:30am – 4:30pm and is free to enter.

The four artists share a love of nature especially the sea, water and rocks which are all reflected in their work, although all using different media, the work compliments and connects visually.

Margaret’s work is constantly evolving, but always exploring the space between abstraction and representation: her seascapes vary in mood and intensity, often with a mysterious quality to them. Jo’s ceramics are inspired by vineyards in France, the Grand Canyon, the waves, ripples and sunlight in the ocean, or pine forests in summer or autumn. Pat’s work is mostly inspired by the rugged coastlines of the North East and South West of England, Pat frequently uses natural materials such as rotting wood and slabs of uncut slate to provide the texture and form for her pieces. Diana has developed a form of collage using painted and printed papers to create landscape pictures. These papers may suggest a sky, the sea or a distant hill, allowing exploration of colour and texture. These four artists have joined together to create a showcase of their artistic forms of ‘Making Waves’.

Shannon Dugdale, from Durlston Country Park said, “We’re so excited here at Durlston to welcome these four talented artists to bring such a unique concept to the Fine Foundation Gallery.”

The exhibition is open daily from 10.30-4:30pm.
